Day 10 - last day in Montepulciano

Today we awoke to a peaceful, refreshing little rain which cleared up right around the time we were ready to go out and shop. Not before a lovely little breakfast, though - of course.

Our main objective today was shopping and then a little wine tasting if it worked out. (We managed to do really well with both!) we stopped first at the little shop that's owned by the lady who kept our luggage for us and picked up some little gifts for The Twins. After that, we stopped in a few more various clothing/shoe stores between stopping at cafes for espresso. I also learned that I have a new favorite dessert in Italy - Macedonia - which is basically sliced, mixed fruit with a little sprinkling of sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice. We also found another beautiful church which I really enjoyed just sitting and being quiet in.

I splirged on a beautiful purse and a belt from one of the oldest leather stores in Montepulciano which had an absolutely amazing store set up. They mainly specialize in Men's goods but have beautiful women's things as well. After all that shopping we had to go get some lunch, and we went to a great little trattoria that had one of the most diverse menus we've found yet.

After we put our things up at the room, we had a little glass of wine and went back out for some tastings. The first was a cheese tasting at a very touristy spot we were sort of happy to get out of. After that, however we tasted more yummy local wines and found some really great super Tuscans. Following a few tastings I was ready for a nap, so we went back to the room and I had a nice rest while mom and dad face timed grandma Phyllis.

Apparently in my deep sleep I had told mom and dad to go to dinner without me, but luckily I was able to catch up with them at a really great restaurant before they got too far into their first courses. The place was really good and doesn't turn over any tables so we were lucky to get to eat there. The crowd favorite for the night was mama's chocolate "cigar" which was presented in a glass dome filled with tobacco smoke. It was pretty incredible and definitely reminded me of one of her favorite things ever - s'mores.

After dinner we meandered back to the room for our final slumber in Momtepulciano.
